Pre-Travel Checklist
You will need to apply for a visa. Below is the checklist to ensure you do everything in order and don’t miss a beat!
You should you do this at least 3 months prior to planned travel
Complete an online application at the Nigeria Immigration Service website
Pay the visa fee
Make an appointment at a Nigerian embassy or consulate to submit supporting documents and undergo biometrics
Provide the required documents, which vary by visa type and applicant nationality:
Self Addressed Prepaid Express Mail Envelope - US Postal Service (Next Day Air preferable)
Printed copy of application https://visa.immigration.gov.ng/
Printed copy of application payment receipt https://visa.immigration.gov.ng/
A valid passport with at least six months validity
Two passport-sized photos (CVS or Post Office)
Proof of sufficient funds
An invitation letter like this one for business or visitation visas Copy of Host’s Passport (Dupe’s passport here)
Hotel reservations or proof of accommodations for tourist visas
Proof of legal residency for non-U.S. passport holders
Proof of Flight/Travel
Visa turnaround time is estimated between 4-8 weeks depending on location. You will need to surrender your passport, so please plan accordingly if you have international travel.
The DC office allows for walk-ins, but your application needs to list the DC office.
